New Staff Position: Director of Development
Christmount Christian Assembly ~ A Place for All to Discover Community, Acceptance, and Purpose
Director of Development
Christmount seeks an inspiring and strategic Director of Development to lead fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship efforts. This role may be structured as full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (minimum 20 hours/week), depending on candidate availability and organizational needs. In consultation with the Executive Director, you will cultivate and secure philanthropic support—ranging from annual gifts to major and planned gifts—while building authentic, long-term relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Key Responsibilities
- Dream and draft annual and multi-year fundraising strategies—annual giving, major and planned gifts, capital campaigns—setting goals that reflect our mission.
- Make direct solicitation calls to prospective donors; craft follow-up reports that honor their partnership.
- Cultivate deep relationships with individuals, corporate officials, foundation officers, and financial advisors, translating our program initiatives into compelling proposals.
- Grow and guide giving societies—Friends of Christmount, Durant Legacy Society, Camp Matters Permanent Fund—curating stewardship gatherings and strategies for lasting engagement.
- Lead fundraising for Adapted Programs (Camp Lakey Gap, Sunshine Retreats), establishing annual funds, convening advisory councils, and championing inclusivity.
- Research and pursue grant opportunities at local, regional, and national levels; write applications and stewardship reports that reflect theological depth and organizational integrity.
- Advise council development teams on Friends of Christmount Annual Fund, Durant Legacy Society Endowment, non-cash contributions, capital projects, and community collaborations.
- Tend our donor database system—ensuring data accuracy, enforcing gift-acknowledgement processes, and reporting progress against metrics.
- Represent Christmount in civic and denominational gatherings, embodying hospitality and expanding our circle of friends and supporters.
Who You Are
You carry a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a kindred field—or you’ve amassed equivalent wisdom through hands-on practice.
You have two or more years of tangible fundraising success, marked by the thrill of closing large gifts and the quiet joy of heartfelt thank-you calls.
You are self-directed and agile, charting your own course with efficiency and flair. Words—spoken and written—are your gift: you craft presentations that uplift, letters that resonate, calls that connect.
You bring a generous spirit, a can-do heart, and unwavering enthusiasm for Christmount’s call to radical hospitality.
You are detail-driven yet visionary, able to juggle deadlines and hold big dreams in one hand and a precise timeline in the other. Knowledge of graphic design tools and social media is a welcome gift, as is proficiency in MS Office and donor database software.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary and benefits package that honors your expertise and experience.
- Health insurance, retirement plan, and generous time for the soul to rest and reflect.
- Spaces for professional and spiritual growth—retreat scholarships, continuing education, and sabbath rhythms on the mountain.
