Appalachian Advent 2024
Our retreat will kick off with a wine and cheese reception by the fire at 7:30pm.
It will close after breakfast on Wednesday Dec 4th.
Cost is $300 for a single room & $375 for a double room.
This includes room and six meals.
Dinner on Tuesday evening will be on your own so you can experience local cuisine
and is not included in the cost of the event.
“Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they
shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.”
Matthew 1:23
Christmount will reopen on Dec 1st for Appalachian Advent.
Join us for the planned programming plus stories of hope & resilience in the storm shared by our executive director Rob Morris.
Advent is the season we search for God in unexpected places.
We at Christmount are rooting ourselves in hope
even amidst challenges we have never faced.
Come hear our stories of when hope showed up in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Join us as we “reboot” Appalachian Advent, a time of community and rooting ourselves in God at the start of what is often a hectic and busy season.
We will start our days with scripture and a devotion led by the chaplain of the day. Morning breakout groups will include the FCC Bowling Green, KY Readers & the FCCBG Men’s Group “Circle of Prayer.”
Each of these groups have been places where church members
and
friends have found a sense of belonging.
FCC Readers will be discussing the book
A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote. And the FCC Bowling Green
men’s circle of prayer will be led by a guest speaker.
After lunch at Christmount, the afternoons will be free to explore Black Mountain and Asheville. In the evening you will be invited to sit by the fire, surrounded by the warmth of friends. One evening we will invite participants to bring out instruments and share the gift of music by the fire!
We know the start of Advent can be one of the busiest times of the year. It is so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle and lose sight of the greatest gift of love made known in the incarnation. Join us as we celebrate this incarnational theology of love rooted in hope and prepare your heart for the coming of Christ!
