Camp Matters

As the national conference center for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Christmount believes in the power, potential, and possibility of camp.

We believe that summer camps can positively effect both the campers and counselors who attend, returning to their home churches with an excitement that is contagious and infectious ... in a healthy way! Churches that are filled with excited, passionate members spillover into their Regions which in turn provide a new level of leadership for the greater denomination.

Who would've thunk it could all start at camp? Oh, that's right - we did! .

Every year, the Camp Matters Permanent Fund committee awards a grant

to at least one Disciples camp / conference center.

Grant awards are in the neighborhood of $500 and will continue to grow as the fund grows.

Grant applications can be for "people, projects, or property" - so basically anything really.

Grant applications are due by March 15, 2025!

Congratulations to Camp Laurelview ~ 2024 Grant recipient!

The Camp Matters Permanent Fund, administered by Christmount Christian Assembly, received eleven grant applications from Disciples camp & conference centers from all over the US and Canada.

The committee selected Camp Laurelview in Pennsylvania as this year's recipient of the CMPF Grant!

Their application read, in part:

The beloved regional church camp is desirous of installing a deck on our camp pond that will permit safe and accessible use and enjoyment by and for mobility impaired and wheel chair bound members and friends. This will make a central facility of our camp enjoyable for all regardless of age or physical ability. The materials are costed at $1,695.00. We will provide labor in kind. This project will be a sign of welcome and the importance of breaking down barriers.

CMPF

The Camp Matters Permanent Fund provides support for Disciples camps both today and tomorrow. Each donation is split 50/50, with half going directly to the camp of your choosing, and half going to the CMPF held with the Christian Church Foundation. As the Permanent Fund grows, it will provide micro-grants and loans to help with programs, personnel, and projects at our Disciples camps.

Camp Matters Permanent Fund - Past Grant Recipients!

The Camp Matters Permanent Fund, administered by Christmount Christian Assembly, awards grants to different Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Camp and Conference Centers. Camp Matters Permanent Fund offers a small grant of $500 to any Disciples Camp / Conference center in the US and Canada. After reviewing the applications, the committee decides on one lucky recipient each year. Applications open in January / February each year, with the grant recipient announced in May.

Past recipients include:

Camp Kum-Ba-Ya in Kentucky for the purpose of modifying door handles to meet ADA requirements,
Camp Walter Scott in Illinois for the installation of portable handwashing stations for their summer camps, and
Camp Caroline in North Carolina for the purchase of additional fishing rods and tackle for increased outdoor, socially-distanced activities for summer.
Disciples Conference Grounds in Ontario, Canada for the installation of an unlimited power supply during brown-out periods to keep their water system running.
Camp Christian in Ohio for the purpose of installing reliable Wi-Fi throughout their campus.
